SaveBox Africa — App Terms & Conditions

1. About SaveBox

SaveBox Africa is a private membership-based savings association established to assist members in developing savings discipline and achieving personal financial goals.

SaveBox is not a bank, deposit-taking institution, microfinance bank, investment company, or public financial institution.

Participation in SaveBox is limited to approved members of the SaveBox Africa Savings Association.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By registering, joining, accessing, or using the SaveBox platform, a member agrees to be bound by:

  • The SaveBox Constitution (Katiba)
  • These Terms and Conditions
  • SaveBox Operating Rules
  • Any future policies issued by SaveBox

3. Member Registration

To become a member, SaveBox may collect:

  • Full Name
  • Phone Number
  • Next of Kin Name
  • Next of Kin Phone Number

Members are responsible for ensuring that all information provided is accurate and up to date.

4. Savings Goals

Members may create one or more savings goals through the SaveBox platform. Each goal may contain:

  • Goal Name
  • Target Amount
  • Contribution Frequency
  • Target Date

SaveBox does not guarantee achievement of any savings goal.

5. Member Contributions

Members may contribute funds towards their savings goals through approved payment channels.

All contributions will be recorded within the SaveBox system.

6. Withdrawals

Withdrawals shall be processed according to:

  • The rules of the selected savings goal
  • SaveBox policies
  • Applicable transaction fees
  • Applicable withdrawal conditions

Withdrawal requests may require processing time.

7. Fees and Charges

SaveBox may apply:

  • Membership Fees
  • Goal Management Fees
  • Service Fees
  • Withdrawal Fees
  • Administrative Charges

Applicable fees shall be communicated to members before they are charged.

8. Third-Party Services

Banks, mobile money operators, payment processors, and telecommunications providers may charge separate fees.

SaveBox is not responsible for such charges.

9. Member Responsibilities

Members agree to:

  • Provide accurate information
  • Protect access to their phone number and account
  • Comply with SaveBox rules
  • Refrain from fraudulent activity
  • Use the platform lawfully

10. Account Suspension

SaveBox may suspend or terminate membership where:

  • False information is provided
  • Fraud is suspected
  • Platform abuse occurs
  • SaveBox rules are violated

11. Limitation of Liability

SaveBox shall not be liable for:

  • Network interruptions
  • Mobile money failures
  • Banking system delays
  • Force majeure events
  • Losses resulting from inaccurate information supplied by a member

12. Intellectual Property

All SaveBox systems, software, applications, databases, logos, trademarks, documents, technology, and intellectual property remain the exclusive property of SaveBox Africa.

Membership does not grant ownership rights in SaveBox or its assets.

13. Nature of SaveBox

SaveBox Africa is a private membership-based savings association.

SaveBox operates as a community savings association and not as a bank, deposit-taking institution, microfinance bank, investment company, or public financial institution.

Participation in SaveBox is limited to approved members.

The savings activities conducted through SaveBox are member-based activities governed by the SaveBox Constitution (Katiba), Operating Rules, and applicable laws.

Member funds are not protected by any bank deposit insurance scheme.

14. Changes to Terms

SaveBox reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.

Continued use of SaveBox after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
